Turkey Burgers Pan Fried Recipe
Equipment
Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground turkey
- ½ medium yellow onion
- 2 Tablespoons cooking oil
- ½ teaspoon jarred minced garlic
- 2 Tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon table salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- Optional – burger buns and your favorite burger toppings
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with wax paper and set aside.
- On a cutting board, dice the onion into very fine pieces and pat them very dry with a paper towel.
- Add the ground turkey, finely diced onion, garlic, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to a medium bowl. Using your hands or a fork, mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions.
- Lightly coat your hands in oil (or mist with nonstick cooking spray) and form each portion into a 1/2-inch-thick patty. The mixture will be wet so they won’t look perfect. Set them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Place in the freezer to chill for 15 minutes.
- After 15 minutes, pre-heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the oil to the skillet.
- Remove the turkey burgers from the freezer. Finish forming them into 1/2-inch-thick patties if necessary.
- Transfer to the hot skillet and cook for 5 – 6 minutes per side. The internal temp for turkey burgers should be 160 degrees F.
- Allow the burgers to rest for a few minutes before serving then add buns and your favorite toppings, if desired.
Notes
- For the healthiest option, look for at least 90 percent lean white turkey meat. The burger will still come out moist because of the other ingredients we are adding to it.
- Skip the buns and serve them as lettuce wrapped turkey burgers.
- Nutritional information is for the turkey patty only and does not include the burger bun or toppings.
- Store leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container for 4-5 days.
