Simple Ingredients

  • white American cheese (from the deli counter)
  • whole milk
  • original Rotel tomatoes and green chilies
  • cumin
  • onion powder
  • Optional – fire roasted corn

Substitutions

Other kinds of cheese you can use are pepper jack cheese, white cheddar cheese, or Monterey jack cheese.

You can substitute the milk, with heavy cream, or evaporated milk.

How to make homemade queso

Step 1 – Place the white American cheese and the whole milk in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat and stir until the cheese is creamy and melted.

Step 2 – Remove from the heat and stir in the undrained Rotel tomatoes and green chilies, the cumin, onion powder, and the drained corn if using.
